Republic Act No. 71 51, which grants franchise to Cebu Air, Inc. n August 30, 1991, Cebu Pacific was acquired wholly as a subsidiary of JG Summit Holdings, controlled by the Gokongwei Family- one of the richest Filipino-Chinese families based in the Philippines. Cebu Pacific Airlines is now headed by Lance Gokongwei, the presumptive heir of one of tne rlcnest ana one 0T tne most powerTul Duslness tycoons In tne pnlllpplnes, Jonn Gokonwei, the chairman of JG Summit Holdings. In the early years Cebu Pacific was known to be a decent airline, flying both domestic and international flights. They have flights going from Metro Manila to Metro Cebu, Metro Manila to Metro Davao, Metro Manila to Iloilo etc. Cebu Pacific also have International flights like Manila to Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan etc, all Asian countries. Cebu Pacific Air is Asias third largest low cost airline based in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is the countrys leading carrier for domestic flights. Cebu Pacific Air has the most domestic destinations with the largest number of flights and routes, and equipped with the youngest fleet. Its main base is at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Manila with other hubs at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Francisco Bangoy International Airport, and at Diosdao Macapagal International Airport. Two (2) years into business Cebu Pacific was hit with a huge controversy when their plane crashed, it happened on February 2, 1998; Cebu Pacific flight 387 (5J387), was a domestic flight coming from Ninoy Aquino international Airport Manila, was on its way to Lumbia Airport in Cagayan de Oro City in Mindanao island. Their aircraft the 31 year old Mcdonnell Douglas DC-9-32 crashed on the slopes of Mt. Sumagaya in Misamis Oriental. The crash was said to be one of the most deadly aviation accidents in Manila, Philippines killing all 104 people on board, the plane carried five (5) crew members and ninety- ine (99) mostly Filipino passengers which iincluded five (5) children and five (5) passengers from other countries from Australia, Austria, Japan, Switzerland, and Canada. There were also initial reports erroneously indicated that fifteen (15) people had survived the crash. Colonel Jacinto Ligot was the chief of the Philippine Air Force rescue team, which faced a lot of difficulties because of the deep ravines and dense vegetation on the slopes of the mountain. The pilots of the Cebu Pacific Aircraft were flying visually and not instrumentally, when their plane vanished from the radar. While the skies were clear at the airport, the mountains may have been covered by the fogs. Chief of Staff General Clemente Mariano speculated that the plane almost cleared the top of the mountain, but may have suffered a downward-draft, causing it to hit the mountain. The airplane left Manila at 0100 GMT and was scheduled to arrive at 0303 GMT in Cagayan de Oro. The plane made a stopover at Tacloban City on 0220 GMT, though sources differ about whether it was a scheduled or an unscheduled stop. The last contact was 15 minutes before the plane was due to land, with the airport tower. In that call, the pilot said he was 68 kilometers away from the airport and was starting to descend. There was no indication that the plane was in trouble. The plane crashed 45 kilometers away from the airport. This incident proved to hurt the sales on what was then a new company Cebu Pacific. Because after this incident Cebu Pacific was forced to be grounded but only after a month they continued their services after their aircrafts were re-certificated. Even when all their aircrafts were re-certified, people were still hesitant to buy trips from Cebu Pacific because of this incident. So what management and marketing had to do was find a way to bring customers back in their airplanes to prove that Cebu Pacific was once again safe. Cebu Pacific came out with its time every Juan flies what it mearns is Cebu Pacific, offers low budget flights, so that every Filipino can start going around the country or, out of the country at very affordable price compared to anyone in the market. wnat tney Tocusea on to get tnese Tllgnts so aTToraaDle, was to Tocus on getting trained pilots, crew training and expertise, fuel, aircraft maintenance, on time reliability, service, and new planes. And with that, they took out payment for newspapers, lounges, paper tickets, frequent flyer program and free meals. Cebu Pacific also partnered with SIA Engineering Company ( the number 1 aircraft maintenance provider in Asia) which guarantees expert maintenance support in all the airports Cebu Pacific flies to. On late November 2001, Cebu Pacific Air started operating international flights with a twice- daily service to Hong Kong and then March 1, 2002, Cebu Pacific Air introduced thrice-weekly flights to Seoul which proved to be really effective because of the more affordable prices Filipinos now have a hance to go out of the country at a very affordable price. Now the question is has Cebu Pacific, come back in a way that it can now be compared to other airlines in Asia or worldwide. With the conceptual and theoretical framework provided below questions that will have to be explored are: 1 . ) How will Cebu Pacific Airline Manage to stay on the top 3 of low budget airlines? 2. ) How will Cebu Pacific maintain its world class standards with it being a budget airline? 3. ) How Ccould Cebu Pacific keep in touch with their customers? 4. ) How will Cebu Pacific guarantee the safety of their customers? Figure 1: Conceptual Framework The Conceptual framework that we used was how to get customers back after crash incident happened, what we want to do is, to get the customers back and how we can get and build their trust, so that they can come back and have customer loyalty. In the airline industry service is one of the most important assets of the company, when your service quality is positive this will result to good customer satisfaction, with good customer satisfaction there is no reason for the customer not to come back for your service. But when customer satisfaction is low, the company can receive complaints nd improve on the customer needs. Brand image is also important to the company, this is because this is how your company portrays itself to the public if you dont have good brand image customers will not go to you. This is why it is important for Cebu Pacific to rebound from their crash incident because when people heard about the incident, people thought it was not a good idea to purchase flights because it was not safe. After fulfilling the customer needs the most important thing is to maintain the customer satisfaction so that the customers will come back to you. Theoretical Framework Cebu Pacific Airlines is owned by one of the biggest companies in the Philippines which is JG Summit. What Cebu Pacific has to do is maintain world class standards in service for a low budget costs solutions are: (1) Brand new planes = efficiency, planes that are hi tech have low maintenance and more fuel efficiency. Because of this, costs are reduced and savings will be seen (2) Joint Venture = Expert Inexpensive Malntenance Avlatlon Partnersnlps wltn otner engineering companies tnat will guarantee expert maintenance support to any airport that they fly to so that Expensive Maintenance will not be made (3)lmproved Website = Ticket insurance should be faster and cheaper, open 2417 websites in English, Filipino, and other languages and Electronic ticketing (4)No Paper Tickets = no paper and printing costs use only itinerary receipts that will be part of the system no need for paper printing just bring receipt with valid ids (5)Quality and Value-oriented service no need for newspapers free meals Just what matter most service, pilots, fuel, maintenance etc. and maintain its customer service. Combating burnout how to maintain your business and your sanity
Combating burnout how to maintain your business and your sanity Entrepreneurs often wear multiple hats on the job. They range from moms who offer coaching services while the baby sleeps to small business owners who left corporate America and now employ a small workforce. No matter where you fall on the spectrum of entrepreneurs, you might be at risk of experiencing burnout. When you work alone or with a small group of people, you can quickly start to feel isolated and spread thin. Letââ¬â¢s take a look at the burnout phenomenon and a few strategies you can use to stop the burn before it begins. Importance of entrepreneursCorporate America is important to the success of our country. However, many experts would argue that entrepreneurs are the true backbone of our economy. From the first black female self-made millionaire, Madam C.J. Walker, to tech guru Bill Gates, entrepreneurs have been using their passions to create empires for centuries. According to a 2014 study by Alexander S. Kritikos, entrepreneurs boost economic growth by introducing i nnovations, cause competition among competitors, and provide new job opportunities. When youââ¬â¢re making strides in your business, it can be easy to forget about the need to care for yourself. Bottom lines and profit margins are essential to your success, but if itââ¬â¢s all you think about, you might be headed towards a raging case of burnout. The risk of burnoutYouââ¬â¢ve probably heard of (or even experienced) burnout. Itââ¬â¢s the state of physical or emotional exhaustion that can make you feel disconnected from who you are as a person. Believe or it or, burnout is an actual medical diagnosis that might be precipitated by depression and other mental health triggers. For many people, burnout happens when workplace stressors become too much to handle. Those born with the entrepreneurial spirit have a few things in common that might place them at a higher-than-average risk of burnout. While research on this condition is plentiful in large corporations, data specific to small business and entrepreneurship isnââ¬â¢t. One study surveyed over 300 members of the entrepreneur networking organization, Business Networking International, to get a better understanding of what makes entrepreneurs burn out. The study looked at everything from job fit to beliefs about work. The majority of those in the survey reported feeling like they fit in their chosen profession and possessed a high level of harmonious passion. However, 25 percent of entrepreneurs felt moderately burned out, and three percent felt strongly that they had a case of burnout.Itââ¬â¢s interesting to point out that the higher levels of passion the participants reported equated to a higher level of burnout. A smaller portion of study participants said they felt obsessive passion and destiny beliefs about their current professional roles. These individuals also self-reported more severe burnout symptoms.Strategies to combat burnoutThe good news is that once you recognize your risk of burnou t, you can create a few intentional practices that will decrease your chances of feeling the burn. Here are a few strategies that can protect your small business from burnout:Develop a flexible mindsetPassionate people tend to migrate towards fixed mindsets about their job fit, which can quickly lead to job stress. Adopting a flexible mindset just means that you can envision more than one perfect career for your life. This allows you to view your job as one part of who you are, not the only thing that makes you a unique individual. This isnââ¬â¢t a natural mindset to break. If you suffer from a fixed mindset, the first thing you need to do is to recognize areas of closed-mindedness. Once you see one of these areas, challenge your thinking to be more flexible. Another strategy is to acknowledge your efforts more than your traits. For instance, instead of identifying how smart you are, consider how hard you work instead. This can also help you notice other peopleââ¬â¢s efforts a t work, too.Switch up your workHave you ever noticed that doing the same thing for a few hours (much less a whole day) can zap your energy? Creative people who are tasked to write compelling copy or create the next masterpiece day after day can feel exhausted when they do the same task for too long. Switching between tasks actually promotes creativity and can increase productivity. To minimize this precursor to burnout, limit your time on any one task. Block out separate times on your calendar for creative work and the more mundane - but just as critical - tasks. Some experts believe that spending about two hours on work that requires a lot of thought will help you be most productive.Find work-life balanceIf you did a random survey, you would probably find that many people have had to talk about work-life balance with their boss. Finding this critical balance has long been a desire of workplace cultures big and small. Many businesses boast that theyââ¬â¢ve found the perfect mix, but when you speak with their employees, it seems theyââ¬â¢ve missed the mark.As a small business owner, itââ¬â¢s critical you find the perfect balance for yourself and your staff. This means you need to create a few rules for successful work-life balance. Here are a few we love:No job is worth your health: Thatââ¬â¢s right, even your own business isnââ¬â¢t worth sleepless nights, panic attacks, or recurrent nightmares. If youââ¬â¢re sick all the time from working too much, itââ¬â¢s time to find balance. Be open to new opportunities: This rule goes back to the ââ¬Å"flexible mindsetâ⬠we talked about above. Maybe you went into business with one objective in mind, but you keep getting asked about a new product or service line that could be your new ââ¬Å"best seller.â⬠Remember that success means being open to new things, even when itââ¬â¢s not what you planned for. Cultivate outside interests: All work and no play is a dangerous way to live. You mus t have hobbies and passions outside of work if you want to have an overall sense of wellness. Turn off the email notifications on your phone at least one day a week and leave the job at the office.Get up and movePhysical activity isnââ¬â¢t only good for your body. Itââ¬â¢s an excellent way to calm stress and anxiety. No one says you have to be the next marathon runner, you just have to create a regular exercise routine that gets you at least 30-minutes of activity each day. Join the gym or find a local yoga or pilates class. If working out around the house fits into your schedule more comfortably, take a 30-minute walk around your neighborhood each day.Thriving, not just survivingNo one wants to merely exist in life. You want to be happy, productive, and above all else, satisfied with your work life. After all, you didnââ¬â¢t leave the cubicle to head into another stressful workplace culture. Use these tips to decrease your risk of burning out as an entrepreneur.About the A uthor:Jori Hamilton is a writer from the Pacific Northwest who has a particular interest in social justice, politics, education, healthcare, technology, and more. 6 Disappeared LinkedInî Partner Applications and What to Do About Them â⬠Part II Amazon Reading List
6 Disappeared LinkedInà ® Partner Applications and What to Do About Them ââ¬â Part II Amazon Reading List Are you an avid reader? It used to be that you could share your passion easily on LinkedIn with the Amazon Reading List application. With the disappearance of LinkedIn partner applications came the elimination of this option. Amazon Reading List was a valuable way to let people know what type of professional development you were engaged in, as well as to round yourself out as a human being (read any good novels lately?) Many people are wondering how to include a reading list on LinkedIn now that the old method has vanished. I was fortunate to have one of my fellow LinkedIn authors, Patrick Gallagher, (LinkedIn Secrets Revealed) do some research on this topic. He wrote to Amazon and received the following email: Thank you for using Reading List by Amazon and for your patience as weââ¬â¢ve worked to make your book information available after LinkedIn deprecated their application program. Your Reading List information has been preserved and is available for import on Shelfari.com. Shelfari is an Amazon-owned site that helps you keep track of the books youââ¬â¢ve read and are reading, discover new books and interact with other readers. Go to https://www.shelfari.com/addbooks. You can sign in to Shelfari using your Amazon account (or your existing Shelfari account). If youââ¬â¢re already a member, click ââ¬Å"Import Booksâ⬠from the Your Shelf drop-down on the home page. Click the ââ¬Å"Import Booksâ⬠from the Your Shelf drop down or go directly to: https://www.shelfari.com/addbooks and you will be guided through importing your books and reviews to your Shelfari bookshelf. I followed these instructions and the process was pretty straightforward. I went to the link provided, www.shelfari.com/addbooks, and created an account. I then entered the same link again and was brought to this screen: When I clicked on IMPORT next to Import Your LinkedIn Reading List, all I had to do was provide my LinkedIn password and my reading list showed up in Shelfari! I then clicked on the Account Settings tab and customized my Shelfari link: Now that I have a link, I can add it to my LinkedIn Profile using the new platform. Hereââ¬â¢s how to add a link in the new LinkedIn: In the Summary section, click on the blue box with a + sign in the corner. You will be brought to a box where you can paste a link: After you paste the link, you can provide a title and description: Unfortunately, thereââ¬â¢s a small glitch. When I clicked on the link, the following screen appeared: I had to click on Read Original to get to the actual Shelfari list, which looks like this: In Shelfari, you can add books you have read or that you are reading, rate them and review them. I wonââ¬â¢t give a tutorial on the website since I think you can figure it out by poking around! If this all seems too complicated, you can do as Patrick Gallagher did and add the Projects section to your profile. You can then create a ââ¬Å"projectâ⬠called ââ¬Å"Amazon Kindle Book Reading Listâ⬠or something similar, and list your books there. Hereââ¬â¢s Patrickââ¬â¢s list: Another option would be to create a document with your list of books and upload it to Box.net. You can then add a link to the Box.net file on your LinkedIn profile. I will cover more about Box.net in my next entry of this series. Stay tuned, and happy reading! Want to read How to Write a KILLER LinkedIn Profile on Kindle? Curious about Patricks book? Stem Cells Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words - 1
Stem Cells - Research Paper Example Most other cells in our bodies are capable of either no replication at all, or only limited multiplication. Stem cells however can continue to replicate mitotically in an endless series of cell divisions in which a single progenitor call can give rise to populations of several million cells. 2. stem cells lack the functional characteristics of other cells in our bodies. For example the red blood cells can carry oxygen bound to the hemoglobin. The muscle cells can utilize ATP to contract and relax in response to nerve stimulation. But stem cells cannot perform any of these specialized tasks. 3. when stem cells in our bodies are subjected to the appropriate stimuli, they undergo differentiation, a process by which stem cells give rise to different end-organs and tissues. These cells which arise from the stem cells are functional in the different body processes. Thus stem cells, by differentiation along different lines give rise to all the organs and tissues in our bodies. Research into stem cells has opened gateways in biological studies that would have been deemed unbreachable just a few decades ago. The most astounding results that stem cell research have yielded are in the field of cell based therapies. The theory behind the use of stem cells in this field is that since stem cells are the progenitor calls that have given rise to all the tissues and organs in our body during our embryonic life, they can also be used to replenish the aforementioned organs and tissues should they become damaged or defective during our adult life. Theoretically, the stem cells can be used as a reservoir to supply any type of cells that become defective in our bodies. For example, in diabetics, they can be used to create a new population of beta cells which can be transplanted to the patients pancreas. They can even be used to constitute entire organs, like kidneys, liver, cornea and even the heart for purposes of transplantation. In practical use, cell based therapies have only so far been applied on a limited scale in hematological malignancies, to reconstitute the cell population after intensive chemotherapy meant to eradicate the patients own bone marrow. Their success and popularity as a mode of treatment in these illnesses is widely established. Stem cell research can also yield excessive information about the processes of cell division and differentiation that are involved in the development of the different organ systems of the embryo from the unicellular zygote. These mechanisms are of intense interest to scientists because they play key roles in diseases that are genetically inherited as well as in the development of cancers. If the defects in cell division and differentiation that give rise to certain genetically inherited traits can be identified, and the key growth or induction factors responsible for causing these defects elucidated, then perhaps these defects can be prevented or corrected in the very early stages of fetal life. If the genetic changes

Technological advances of globalization Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Technological advances of globalization - Essay Example But government policy and technical developments of the last few years have urged increases in cross border trade, migration, and investment. The volume of world trade has increased in recent years. Comparatively, today globalization is very faster cheaper, farther and deeper than olden years. The current policies such as domestically and internationally open economies are major reasons for the current wave of the globalization. In the last two decades, many governments have tried or adapted free-market economy systems for international trade and investment. To promote trade in goods, services, and investment government also have provided reductions in barriers to commerce. Corporations have opened factories in foreign countries and established production and marketing preparations with foreign associates by getting a benefit of new opportunities in overseas markets. Technology is known as the other chief driver of globalization. Information technologies have given all kinds of indiv idual financial players - consumers, investors, businesses - valuable new tools for recognizing and continuing economic opportunities, including quicker and more conversant analyses of economic styles around the globe, easy transfers of belongings, and alliance with distant partners. Globalization has now become a controversial matter. ... Resistance to globalization has therefore taken figure both at a popular and at a government level as people and government attempt to supervise the flow of investment, merchandise, employment, and ideas that represent the present wave of globalization. Even though globalization has now become a fiscal, political and social concept, it is not a new occurrence. Travelers such as Marco polo, and Ibn Battuta were innovators of globalization facing casualty and risk in their mission to explore new distant land. But in 21st century, globalization receives on a new definition. It might mean sitting in your room in U.S while talking with a companion in U.K. Trade, Health, Environment, and culture Trade is a significant part of globalization. It steers globalization. Current shipping and telecommunication facilities enable exports to and imports from distant places without any difficulty. But few trade policies, international rules and regulations can still create problems for developing nations. Globalization has had spectacular effects on health department. Treatments for deceases such as HIV/AIDS are commonly accessible, and their costs have fallen by the reason of international agreements. Latest medicinal stuffs to identify, measure, and treat known and emerging diseases are being used all over the globe. The people are more conscious on health issues by the entry of internet and e-mail. At the same time the global actions teams such as national institutes, international bodies, and public society are helping to amplify alertness, monitor developments, and generate solutions to health issues. On the other hand, cross border voyage increases HIV/AIDS and other contagious

The Myth of a Classless America Essay -- Wealth Society Culture Racism
The Myth of a Classless America The myth of a "classless" American society coupled with social stratification impedes race relations in the U.S. far more than any racial differences. The never ending struggle of the "have-nots" to become one of the "haves" produces a frustration and feeling of oppression that acts as a catalyst for spawning racial tensions. Minorities see the majority of wealth in the hands of the white population and feel that the wealth is unevenly distributed. Whites hear of government programs for minorities and feel as if they are lazy or just looking for a handout. This occurs and stereotypes are formed. Combine all of this with the United States system of "dual welfare"and the perfect environment for racial strife is created. In our "classless"society of false hope the working class and poor are continually seeking opportunities to excel that just aren't there. They have been led to believe that intelligence and ambition are key contributors to one's success. This belief lays blame on the unsuccessful themselves, even if they do possess ambition and intelligence. These people are in a never ending cycle of struggle, followed by minimal rewards, which eventually produces a frustration that sometimes leads to desperate measures. Cornell West expands on this with the following statement : ". . . homicidal assaults by young black men on one another are only the most obvious signs of this empty quest for pleasure, property, and power" (Race and Racism p.123). This statement shows the extremes one will go to in his "empty quest" for a better life. This is not only happening to blacks by blacks. It is happening to all races by all races. People hear of events like these and categorize them as a racial crime or a racially motivated crime just because the victims may be of a different race. As W est's statement demonstrates the killings occur as a means to an end, the end being a better life. In our ever diversifying melting pot of a country, same race victim and criminal crimes are becoming less and less statistically likely anyway. Events such as these don't occur because of race. They occur because of the frustration and desperation bred by the false hope that hard work and determination leads to success. It is no mystery that most of the wealthy people in America are white. West again points out (Race and Racism p.... ... amount that they pay in is equal to the amount that Bill Gates pays in. There's something about this whole system that just doesn't seem proportionately correct. It seems like the percentage sacrificed should be the same across the board. All the examples I have given may seem like this paper is about the wealthy and the poor, and not about racial differences in the United States. If it does there is a reason for that. The upper class or super rich, whichever you want to call them, receive more benefits than the poor. The upper class is mainly white and the poor and working class are a mixture of all races. This gives the appearance that assistance is based on race, when it's not. It is based on class. People see these events and make generalizations and this in turn leads to racial tension. If steps are taken to make "classless America" a reality, then these racial tensions would ease. Works Cited Langston, Donna. "Class and Inequality." Race , Class, and Gender . 20 January 2000. Planning A Time Capsule Essay
As typical of these times I would include: a dirty needle and a rip-top can, pebbled glass from a windscreen, some spent cartridges, a singlet noose fresh from a prisonerââ¬â¢s neck, a pamphlet proving pornography is love, a flask of tears from battered women (laced with childrenââ¬â¢s blood), a cassette-tape of cries from bitter tenants faced with rent-hikes, a food-voucher for the many hidden hungry, a door key to signify the homeless, and a colour-shot of a billion-dollar Parliament House, a press release from the Bureau of Statistics showing things are getting better all the time -and for their rarity I would include: a bottle of sand from an undeveloped foreshore, a whole spadeful of earth thatââ¬â¢s still Australian, a fern-frond from the last rain-forest, and a feather from a free-range hen, a breath of uncontaminated ozone, and a drop (a single drop) of water as pure as grief. . . Considerâ⬠¦ What is a time capsule? What does Bruce Dawe think of the times in which he lives? What does he value and what does he detest? Isolate and comment on two images Dawe uses. Be sure to explain the impact of these images on you. Consider how these images make you feel. With what changes in behaviour does this poem deal? Comment on the use of contrast in this poem. Why is ââ¬Ëgriefââ¬â¢ mentioned with water?
